My company has been dealing Xplore ruggedized tablets for quite a many years. The first batch of them were deployed in the BIllings Police Dept. vehicles. In that use, they have seen many HD failures because of age and, quite frankly, car accidents. The newest package to be seen by Xplore is the iX series. I gotta say that they really did their homework and listened to the "boots on the ground" this time around. The screen is much better, the touch sensitivity is much better, the speed is much better and there are so many more attachments that can be used by this tablet. It uses a dock much the same way that a laptop uses an expansion dock, but it also has another expansion port for things like bluetooth, GPS, and a slew of other things. The real kickers in these tablets that the military liked? They're water-proof. You can drop these into a lake of whatever, dry them off and continue working. You can drop these, pick them up, and continue working. In fact the demonstration for the rugged-ness of these tablets invovled being thrown across the room, bounce off of a chair, hit the screen on the arm of the chair, bounced off the floor and into the leg of another chair. All in all I believe these tablets ae going to give Panasonic a real run for the money. As they already have here in Montana. Please feel free to e-mail me with questions, and other data requests. |
